Missouri Gateway Green Building Council (MGGBC) is a non-profit dedicated to educating and advocating for the environment through sustainable buildings and architecture. In 2022, they embarked on a brand refresh following a renaming. They needed a new brand identity and website that succinctly represented their work and mission: Connecting people, places, and planet.

The project

My team and I crafted a logo design that incorporates three colors, sections and lines to represent economic, environmental, and social sustainability. The wave mark ties the logo to the St. Louis confluence region. We built on the new brand to curate a corporate identity package complete with use of sustainable materials like bamboo in place of plastic.

Then we overhauled the website to incorporate the new branding and integrate several key features: a robust blog platform, member registration and an events calendar. The site was also designed with web accessibility standard requirements in mind.

MGGBC now has over 600 members representing all elements of the building industry. Their community of professionals advocate for green building & sustainability with programs like Emerging Professionals and Green Schools Quest that are now accessible through the events registration platform on their website and are experiencing record turnout. The blog has become an active spot for the organization to share news, resources, events and member spotlights with their community.
